The Ulaanbaatar Sustainable Urban Transport Project is responsible for monitoring the application of relevant national laws as well as World Bank Environmental and Social Management policy to project activities, sub-components, and accompanying documents.
The World Bank’s Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF), as well as the accompanying 10 Environmental and Social Standards (ESS) aim to prevent and mitigate any and all environmental and social risks associated with its projects (World Bank, 2016). Of these 10 standards, 9 are applicable to the USUTP. These standards lay out all environmental and social requirements the Borrower/the Project must follow.
