A “Mid-term review” of the “Ulaanbaatar Sustainable Urban Transport” is underway.
According to the loan agreement between the Government of Mongolia and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development on August 24, 2021, and the project agreement between the Governor of the Capital City and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development on August 29, 2021 this, the Capital Governor’s Office is implementing the “Ulaanbaatar Sustainable Urban Transport Project” in cooperation with the World Bank. The goal of the project is to develop a comprehensive framework for sustainable urban mobility in
Ulaanbaatar, and to reduce congestion, improve road safety, and address climate resilience on selected transport
corridors. It will be implemented until the end of 2026.
On the 20th-31st of this month, the “Mid-term review” of the project is underway, and the World Bank team is working in Mongolia. In this context, L. Hosbayar, head of the office of the capital city governor, and relevant officials met the World Bank team consisting of Monica sawyer /senior operations specialist/, Noroarisoa rabefanirak /task team leader, senior transport engineer/, Clemens portenlaenger /senior transport specialist/, Nurbek kurmanaliev /senior procurement specialist/, Ross Butler /lead social development specialist/, Munkhjargal Ayurzana /infrastructure specialist/, Khaliun Bat-orig /transport specialist/.
During this “Mid-Term Review”, the World Bank team will review the project implementation and action plan in detail for 14 days, identify delays and risks in project implementation, and discuss possible changes in the project’s structure and future stability. In order to successfully implement and complete the project by adapting the project to some emerging situations, the parties agreed to resolve certain issues during the “Mid-Term Review”.
