World Bank Conducts Technical and Implementation Support Mission
From March 27 to April 7, 2023, the World Bank conducted a mission with the aim of providing technical and implementation support to the project. During this visit, the World Bank, with funding from the Global Fund for Disaster Reduction, conducted training seminars on the introduction, use and development of the fixed asset registration system for roads and road facilities. Moreover, the training focused on adequately preparing Ulaanbaatar city administration for the eventual hand-off of the system. Further, World Bank consultant Mirikk Paala presented the Road Safety Data Evaluation Report to relevant experts from the National Road Safety Council, the Municipality of Ulaanbaatar, the Road Development Agency, and the Traffic Police Authority. City officials were also informed of future works to be carried out by the project. Finally, World Bank consultant Blair Turner stressed the importance of speed management in the context of road safety, and consulted with project stakeholders on the scope of the Speed Management Plan – a key deliverable financed by the project.
On March 29, 2023, representatives from the World Bank’s official mission team, composed of Transport Specialist B. Haliun, Senior Transport Specialist Clemens Portenlaeger, Public Transport Consultant Dr. Jounna Moody, and Data Analysis Consultant Dr. Stella Ok, visited the Public Transport Authority and discussed future project works in detail.
